Ces figures ne cessent de se croiser au fil de chapitres brefs et nerveux, d\u2019une \u00e9criture tendue, qui d\u2019abord proposent une repr\u00e9sentation de l\u2019\u00e9poque non encore advenue, puis se transmuent en un haletant thriller. Cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 venir est en effet soumise au r\u00e8gne d\u2019une \u00e9valuation g\u00e9n\u00e9rale. Chacun se voit dot\u00e9 d\u2019un \u00ab&nbsp;<em>indice de bonheur personnel<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb aussi d\u00e9terminant pour son existence que ne le sont aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019origine sociale ou le niveau d\u2019\u00e9tudes&nbsp;: seuls les indices sup\u00e9rieurs \u00e0 8\/10 peuvent pr\u00e9tendre acc\u00e9der aux meilleures situations. L\u2019obtention de cette note \u00e9lev\u00e9e est li\u00e9e \u00e0 la fr\u00e9quentation quotidienne des r\u00e9seaux sociaux, \u00e0 la vari\u00e9t\u00e9 des affichages et \u00e0 l\u2019attractivit\u00e9 des vid\u00e9os mises en ligne. Christopher Bouix ne fait en l\u2019esp\u00e8ce qu\u2019extrapoler un mouvement d\u00e9j\u00e0 largement amorc\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es vingt du XXI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle&nbsp;: le d\u00e9compte des \u00ab&nbsp;<em>followers<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb en tous genres n\u2019y tient-il pas d\u00e9j\u00e0 lieu de mesure de l\u2019influence sociale&nbsp;? Certes tout cela ne s\u2019affiche plus sur des \u00e9crans, disparus depuis belle lurette, mais est directement visible par l\u2019entremise de lentilles greff\u00e9es sur la corn\u00e9e. En lieu et place du double clic il suffit d\u2019un double clignement de l\u2019\u0153il. Mais par-del\u00e0 ses innovations purement technologiques ce temps est surtout celui de consid\u00e9rables bouleversements soci\u00e9taux. L\u00e0-derri\u00e8re se profile, on l\u2019aura \u00e9videmment compris, le \u00ab&nbsp;<strong><em>1984<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb d\u2019Orwell.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Peu \u00e0 peu Christopher Bouix \u00e9labore un tableau fourmillant de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences&nbsp; renvoyant \u00e0 ce qui travaille notre pr\u00e9sent<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u2019un des principaux personnages, une certaine Sibylle,&nbsp; travaille ainsi \u00e0 l\u2019&nbsp;\u00ab&nbsp;<em>Office des quotas de naissance et de la surpopulation<\/em>. \u00bb Non seulement il ne fait pas de doute que le malthusianisme a d\u00e9sormais triomph\u00e9, mais il se double maintenant d\u2019un eug\u00e9nisme d\u00e9complex\u00e9, sans compter un retour au mod\u00e8le h\u00e9t\u00e9rosexuel&nbsp;: seuls sont habilit\u00e9s \u00e0 la conception d\u2019un enfant les couples not\u00e9s 9\/10, \u00e0 raison d\u2019un maximum de douze gestations annuelles pour l\u2019ensemble de la population de chaque quartier haut de gamme. Autant dire que la comp\u00e9tition est serr\u00e9e et la s\u00e9lection impitoyable. N\u00e9o et Juliette, habitants du quartier n\u00b02, pas loin du sommet de la hi\u00e9rarchie, se pr\u00e9sentent comme de s\u00e9rieux postulants face \u00e0 une petite dizaine d\u2019autres couples. &nbsp;A l\u2019Office, c\u2019est donc Sibylle qui re\u00e7oit les candidats \u00e0 la procr\u00e9ation. Pour ceux-ci, oubli\u00e9es \u00ab&nbsp;<em>les d\u00e9rives de la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du si\u00e8cle<\/em> [\u2026] <em>Toutes ces interrogations sur le genre, sur la non-binarit\u00e9<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb&nbsp;: le Gouvernement avait depuis longtemps fait marche arri\u00e8re. Peu \u00e0 peu Christopher Bouix \u00e9labore un tableau fourmillant de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences&nbsp; renvoyant \u00e0 ce qui travaille notre pr\u00e9sent. Ne rendant pas forc\u00e9ment d\u00e9sirable ce qui s\u2019est impos\u00e9 dans le monde de 2084, \u00e0 la fois hyper-connect\u00e9 et command\u00e9 par une pens\u00e9e d\u2019un conservatisme assum\u00e9. La satire touche contin\u00fbment juste, non sans une bonne dose d\u2019humour.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La jubilatoire satire sociale c\u00e8de alors le pas \u00e0 un impitoyable thriller<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pour sa part, Sibylle vit seule \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tage au-dessus de sa m\u00e8re V\u00e9ra, une ancienne com\u00e9dienne aujourd\u2019hui en fauteuil roulant, dont l\u2019appartement est envahi par les livres. Une aberration qui provoque la fureur de sa fille, elle-m\u00eame terriblement n\u00e9vros\u00e9e, et lui donne des envies de meurtre. Sauf que les temps sont \u00e0 la&nbsp;&nbsp; bienveillance et \u00e0 la transparence, du moins en fa\u00e7ade. Obligatoires pour un bon indice de bonheur personnel, lui-m\u00eame gage de multiples avantages. Personne ne refuse ouvertement de s\u2019y conformer. Sur les r\u00e9seaux sociaux on ne cesse donc d\u2019afficher son contentement et son bien-\u00eatre en postant \u00ab&nbsp;<em>le maximum de contenus heureux<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb, condition pour l\u2019excellence de l\u2019indice mesur\u00e9 en permanence. Et pourtant\u2026 La jubilatoire satire sociale c\u00e8de alors le pas \u00e0 un impitoyable thriller, dont Sibylle, V\u00e9ra, N\u00e9o et Juliette sont les acteurs. L\u2019une veut se d\u00e9barrasser de sa m\u00e8re, les deux autres aspirent \u00e0 la parentalit\u00e9 en m\u00eame temps qu\u2019\u00e0 un statut sup\u00e9rieur. De cette conjonction d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eats, Christopher Bouix fait la mati\u00e8re d\u2019un incroyable sc\u00e9nario noir, combinaison de haute technologie et d\u2019inventivit\u00e9 humaine dans cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9 qui a fait de l\u2019injonction au bonheur et \u00e0 la perfection son credo. Mais a fait l\u2019impasse sur les vieilles pulsions de l\u2019esp\u00e8ce. La face cach\u00e9e, nocturne, de ce monde de 2084 alors se d\u00e9voile. Au sens propre et figur\u00e9, un v\u00e9ritable r\u00e8glement de compte, captivant, foisonnant et caustique, qui concerne aussi 2024.
