Le ma\u00eetre de Giverny se trouve aujourd\u2019hui de nouveau au centre d\u2019une s\u00e9duisante \u00ab&nbsp;<em>fiction document\u00e9e<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb de Catherine Vigourt, \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Une parcelle du monde<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb, dans laquelle l\u2019autrice s\u2019attache au cheminement humain et artistique de celui-ci au fil de six grandes dates de sa vie, de 1893 \u00e0 1926<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"209\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/jclebrun.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/VIG-209x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jclebrun.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/VIG-209x300.jpeg 209w, https:\/\/jclebrun.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/VIG.jpeg 518w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 209px) 100vw, 209px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Screenshot<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cette fois il s\u2019agit moins de restituer dans une \u0153uvre litt\u00e9raire des instantan\u00e9s du parcours du grand artiste, dans un geste peu ou prou biographique, que de dialoguer avec celui-ci et son temps. Une romanci\u00e8re du XXI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle s\u2019adresse ici au peintre \u00e0 cheval sur le XIX\u00e8me et le XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cles. Le r\u00e9cit de vie alterne ainsi avec des paragraphes, dans lesquels Catherine Vigourt interpelle Claude Monet. Cela commence donc un jour de neige&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Nous sommes jeudi 24 janvier 1893, l\u2019hiver de tes cinquante-deux ans, et tu crois d\u00e9tenir ici une parcelle du monde<\/em>.&nbsp;\u00bb A Giverny, achet\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019automne 1890, s\u2019est en effet enclench\u00e9e la cr\u00e9ation du jardin qui deviendra l\u2019autre chef d\u2019\u0153uvre de l\u2019artiste&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Tu es arriv\u00e9 \u00e0 ce qui n\u2019est pas encore un jardin, mais qui n\u2019est plus un terrain ni une prairie, parce que tu le plantes, tu le creuses, tu le s\u00e8mes. Et tu le peins<\/em>.&nbsp;\u00bb &nbsp;Le ton est donn\u00e9. Le tutoiement est celui d\u2019une famili\u00e8re de l\u2019\u0153uvre picturale, elle-m\u00eame artiste de la langue, qui met \u00e0 profit l\u2019avantage du si\u00e8cle pass\u00e9 depuis le d\u00e9c\u00e8s du peintre pour \u00e9voquer ensemble le changement de statut de sa peinture et les al\u00e9as que traversa son jardin, avant de devenir l\u2019un des hauts lieux patrimoniaux du pays,&nbsp; propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de l\u2019Institut de France depuis 1966.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ceux dont on oublie la pr\u00e9sence aupr\u00e8s des grands artistes. Qu\u2019on ne peut litt\u00e9ralement pas \u00ab&nbsp;<em>voir en peinture<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Si l\u2019appartenance au genre romanesque est annonc\u00e9e en couverture du livre, c\u2019est que Catherine Vigourt ins\u00e8re dans le scrupuleux rendu des \u00e9v\u00e9nements document\u00e9s de la vie de Claude Monet ses propres imaginations. Notamment pour \u00e9voquer cette partie invisible de l\u2019existence qui en constitue pourtant l\u2019essentiel&nbsp;: le quotidien, avec ses habitudes, son rythme et ses rites. Comme ces repas si importants \u00e0 Giverny, leur pr\u00e9paration dans la cuisine bleue que chacun d\u00e9sormais conna\u00eet, leur partage avec les fr\u00e9quents invit\u00e9s dans la salle \u00e0 manger jaune. Ou encore l\u2019entourage, l\u2019\u00e9pouse Alice, la belle-fille Blanche, la cuisini\u00e8re, le jardinier, les voisins de Giverny. &nbsp;Ceux dont on oublie la pr\u00e9sence aupr\u00e8s des grands artistes. Qu\u2019on ne peut litt\u00e9ralement pas \u00ab&nbsp;<em>voir en peinture<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb, \u00e9crit Catherine Vigourt. La romanci\u00e8re offre une restitution tout en finesse, l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9gance est sa marque de fabrique, de ces moments aussi capitaux pour le peintre que ses rencontres avec Georges Cl\u00e9menceau, \u00e0 partir de 1890. Une \u00e9troite &nbsp;amiti\u00e9 de quatre d\u00e9cennies, initi\u00e9e par le critique d\u2019art Gustave Geffroy, dont t\u00e9moignent leur volumineuse correspondance et le ton de celle-ci. Celui qu\u2019on surnommait le Tigre, pour les coups de griffes qu\u2019il distribuait g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement \u00e0 ses adversaires, usait dans ses lettres \u00e0 Monet de formules pour lui marques d\u2019affection comme \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Mon v\u00e9n\u00e9rable d\u00e9bris<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb ou \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Mon vieux c\u0153ur<\/em>.&nbsp;\u00bb Il avait \u00e0 Giverny table ouverte. L\u2019on sait son action pour trouver un&nbsp; lieu parisien \u00e0 la hauteur des \u00ab&nbsp;<em>panneaux d\u00e9coratifs<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb que le peintre r\u00e9alisa malgr\u00e9 sa cataracte dans&nbsp;&nbsp; les sept derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es de sa vie. Les \u00ab&nbsp;<strong><em>Nymph\u00e9as<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb, c\u2019est \u00e9videmment d\u2019eux qu\u2019il s\u2019agit, que Monet avait souhait\u00e9 \u00ab&nbsp;<em>offrir \u00e0 l\u2019Etat<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb apr\u00e8s le 11 novembre 1918 (\u00ab&nbsp;<em>C\u2019est la seule mani\u00e8re que j\u2019ai de prendre part \u00e0 la Victoire<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb) furent finalement install\u00e9s au mus\u00e9e de l\u2019Orangerie.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Une saisissante \u0153uvre litt\u00e9raire appara\u00eet en miroir de l\u2019\u0153uvre picturale<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dans l\u2019ombre port\u00e9e du peintre, Catherine Vigourt laisse voir en permanence les \u00e9v\u00e9nements du temps. C\u2019est aussi ce qui donne \u00e0 son livre sa stup\u00e9fiante densit\u00e9. Depuis l\u2019affaire Dreyfus et la Grande guerre jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la succession de r\u00e9volutions artistiques qui s\u2019ensuivirent. Les six journ\u00e9es de la vie de Claude Monet ici choisies montrent superbement cette combinaison de retrait physique dans le petit univers de Giverny, sorte d\u2019\u00eelot d\u2019artiste dans un village indiff\u00e9rent \u00e0 l\u2019art, et de pr\u00e9sence intense dans le mouvement artistique. Ce que Catherine Vigourt d\u00e9signe modestement comme une \u00ab&nbsp;<em>fiction document\u00e9e<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb brasse de si magistrale fa\u00e7on cette &nbsp;&nbsp;mati\u00e8re, qu\u2019une saisissante \u0153uvre litt\u00e9raire appara\u00eet en miroir de l\u2019\u0153uvre picturale. L\u2019on y suit aussi la r\u00e9ception d\u2019abord h\u00e9sitante de cette peinture jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019exceptionnel statut de cr\u00e9ation majeure dans l\u2019histoire humaine qui est dor\u00e9navant le sien. Il en va de m\u00eame pour le jardin de Giverny, laiss\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019abandon \u00e0 la mort de Monet le 5 d\u00e9cembre 1926 puis objet d\u2019une restauration \u00e0 l\u2019identique. L\u2019autrice, s\u2019adressant par-del\u00e0 le temps au ma\u00eetre, lui raconte par le menu comment sa double cr\u00e9ation est devenue pour le monde d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence absolue en mati\u00e8re d\u2019art. La post\u00e9rit\u00e9 a fait le tri&nbsp;: celui qui avait commenc\u00e9 par des portraits pas vraiment flatteurs des notables de sa ville du Havre figure maintenant au tout premier rang du Panth\u00e9on pictural.
