Elle avait mis neuf mois pour enfanter son premier livre&nbsp;: le&nbsp; temps d\u2019une maternit\u00e9. La narratrice, en m\u00eame temps qu\u2019elle analyse cr\u00fbment les transformations de son propre corps, s\u2019adresse \u00e0 ses filles, celle d\u00e9j\u00e0 venue au monde et celle \u00e0 venir, afin de les alerter face aux catastrophes qui menacent. Elle \u00e9voque \u00e9galement la venue d\u2019un nouveau livre. L\u2019\u00e9poque est pour elle \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation sous toutes ses formes. Avec ses interrogations, ses angoisses et ses emballements. Pour restituer le bouillonnement en soi, la pouss\u00e9 double d\u2019une nouvelle vie et de l\u2019\u00e9criture, elle recourt aux ressources multiples de la rh\u00e9torique. Le&nbsp; r\u00e9cit de sa gestation s\u2019enrichit ainsi de soudaines \u00e9chapp\u00e9es po\u00e9tiques, jusqu\u2019au calligramme, et de prises de recul, au gr\u00e9 de sa propre m\u00e9t\u00e9orologie. &nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>La double figure de l\u2019\u00e9branlement intime et de la catastrophe climatique qui commande son \u00e9criture<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avec en constant point de mire ce Tambora qui pr\u00eate son nom au titre du roman. Un volcan indon\u00e9sien dont la formidable \u00e9ruption en 1815, la plus violente jamais enregistr\u00e9e, mais longtemps ignor\u00e9e &#8211; d\u2019une part masqu\u00e9e par un autre s\u00e9isme, sur la plaine de Waterloo, de l\u2019autre par le fait que \u00ab&nbsp;<em>ses victimes sont pauvres&nbsp;; elles n\u2019\u00e9crivent pas<\/em>&nbsp;\u00bb &#8211; plongea un temps la terre dans l\u2019obscurit\u00e9 et affecta le climat &nbsp;pendant plusieurs ann\u00e9es. Pour H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Laurain la double figure de l\u2019\u00e9branlement intime et de la catastrophe climatique, qui commande sa propre \u00e9criture. On pourrait ajouter, elle y fait explicitement r\u00e9f\u00e9rence, son incidence sur la vision de certains grands artistes&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;<em>Les tableaux de William Turner, Caspar David Friedrich, John Constable datant de ces ann\u00e9es affichent des cr\u00e9puscules cendr\u00e9s, de rouges \u00e0 jaun\u00e2tres&nbsp;; nuits \u00e9ternelles<\/em>.\u00bb L\u2019\u00e9crivaine avec \u00ab&nbsp;<strong><em>Tambora<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb reprend superbement leur geste.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rarement la dimension physique et la dimension m\u00e9taphorique ne s\u2019\u00e9taient trouv\u00e9es ainsi accord\u00e9es<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pour elle il y a quelque chose de sismique dans une vie de femme. Les cycles du corps, les \u00e9coulements, les conceptions, les expulsions. Rarement la dimension physique et la dimension m\u00e9taphorique ne s\u2019\u00e9taient trouv\u00e9es ainsi accord\u00e9es. Du tr\u00e8s grand art. H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Laurain r\u00e9ussit en effet le tour de force de saisir d\u2019un m\u00eame mouvement le temps chaotique de la grossesse et un chaos \u00e0 une plus vaste \u00e9chelle. Les violentes perturbations qui affectent un&nbsp; corps en gestation et la multiplication des catastrophes. L\u2019apparition d\u2019une vie nouvelle dans une ambiance de fin du monde. Le premier quart du XXI\u00e8me si\u00e8cle se trouve ici saisi avec une rare fid\u00e9lit\u00e9. Non pas \u00e0 la mani\u00e8re des figuratifs, mais dans une certaine fa\u00e7on de recomposer l\u2019air du temps. A commencer par cette \u00e9criture hybride au plus pr\u00e8s de ce qu\u2019elle d\u00e9signe comme \u00ab&nbsp;<em>le contemporain<\/em>.&nbsp;\u00bb &nbsp;La r\u00e9alit\u00e9 s\u2019y trouve saisie dans sa multiplicit\u00e9, le proche et le lointain, l\u2019intime et l\u2019universel, le pr\u00e9sent et le pass\u00e9. Avec leurs constantes interactions, dont les vies humaines sont le produit. H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Laurain dit en l\u2019esp\u00e8ce l\u2019incertitude des choses. Et sa propre perplexit\u00e9 face au monde que ses enfants vont devoir affronter&nbsp;: comment pouvoir \u00ab&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>respirer socialement, politiquement, financi\u00e8rement aussi, dans le monde que nous vous proposons<\/em>&nbsp;?&nbsp;\u00bb s\u2019interroge-t-elle. C\u2019est que<br>\u00ab <em>Depuis que la catastrophe se dessine plus nettement<\/em><em><br>que les dystopies sont rattrap\u00e9es par le r\u00e9el<br>l&rsquo;impression est l\u00e0 de tout voir<br><\/em><em>tout go\u00fbter<\/em><em><br>pour la derni\u00e8re fois<\/em>. \u00bb<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00ab&nbsp;<strong><em>Tambora<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb se pr\u00e9sente incontestablement comme un grand texte d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui. Combinant trivialit\u00e9 et fulgurances po\u00e9tiques, certitudes et angoisses, invention et r\u00e9flexion. Un roman \u00e0 l\u2019image du volcan dont il a opportun\u00e9ment choisi d\u2019emprunter le nom.
