Le natif de&nbsp; Cordoue, po\u00e8te, romancier et critique litt\u00e9raire, s\u2019est aujourd\u2019hui impos\u00e9 comme une figure de premier plan des lettres ib\u00e9riques. Son roman, livre savant d\u00e9bordant de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences autant que de pistes de lecture, illustre sa &nbsp;fa\u00e7on multiforme de s\u2019inscrire dans le paysage litt\u00e9raire. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"507\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/jclebrun.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/MORA.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2911\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jclebrun.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/MORA.png 507w, https:\/\/jclebrun.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/MORA-198x300.png 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Il faut commencer par le commencement&nbsp;: le nom de Redo, l\u2019auteur des carnets, n\u2019est autre que le palindrome de l\u2019Oder, le fleuve qui avec son affluent la Neisse forme une partie de la fronti\u00e8re germano-polonaise entr\u00e9e dans l\u2019histoire \u00e0 l\u2019issue de la Seconde guerre mondiale sous la d\u00e9nomination &nbsp;de \u00ab&nbsp;<em>ligne Oder-Neisse<\/em>.&nbsp;\u00bb Le livre de Vicente Luis Mora, avec ce titre et ce jeu sur un patronyme, prend &nbsp;clairement place dans une tradition \u00e9rudite. De m\u00eame qu\u2019une curieuse progression arithm\u00e9tique li\u00e9e \u00e0 un certain d\u00e9compte de cadavres dans un jardin. En d\u2019autres endroits l\u2019on glissera du c\u00f4t\u00e9 du r\u00e9alisme magique. Ou bien au d\u00e9tour d\u2019une page s\u2019effectuera un \u00e9trange changement d\u2019accord du participe pass\u00e9, du masculin au f\u00e9minin. Des accents kafka\u00efens se laisseront \u00e9galement entendre. Si l\u2019on ajoute que cette fable singuli\u00e8re se d\u00e9roule dans la premi\u00e8re moiti\u00e9 du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, le d\u00e9but de l\u2019\u00e2ge d\u2019or du roman europ\u00e9en, il appara\u00eet \u00e9vident que c\u2019est la litt\u00e9rature elle-m\u00eame qui se trouve au centre de \u00ab&nbsp;<strong><em>Mitteleuropa<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u00bb, vocable venu de la langue allemande et pass\u00e9 dans le langage commun, qui renvoie \u00e0 la grande tradition culturelle que l\u2019on sait.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cette accumulation d\u2019\u00e9tranget\u00e9s conduit \u00e0 peu \u00e0 peu subodorer\u00a0 une affaire plus complexe qu\u2019il y para\u00eet de prime abord<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Celui qui raconte et se pr\u00e9sente sous le pseudonyme de \u00a0Redo Hauptshammer est n\u00e9 dans un bordel de Vienne tenu par sa m\u00e8re \u00ab\u00a0<em>au moment o\u00f9 le XVIIIe si\u00e8cle agonisait<\/em>.\u00a0\u00bb Une premi\u00e8re originalit\u00e9. On le retrouve dans la troisi\u00e8me d\u00e9cennie du si\u00e8cle suivant venant d\u2019arriver dans la petite cit\u00e9 prussienne imaginaire de Szonden au bord de l\u2019Oder. Un cercueil chapeaute la carriole avec les affaires qu\u2019il transporte. Autre bizarrerie. Dans la bo\u00eete est enferm\u00e9 le corps d\u2019Odra, son \u00e9pouse tu\u00e9e quelque jours auparavant \u00e0 Mayence par un troupier napol\u00e9onien. La chronologie est ici \u00e9lastique. Nouvelle surprise qui ne sera assur\u00e9ment pas la derni\u00e8re. Par exemple quand il d\u00e9couvrira enfoui dans le jardin de sa nouvelle demeure un cadavre intact de militaire prussien. Puis quelques autres. Puis plusieurs autres encore, selon une rigoureuse progression arithm\u00e9tique. L\u2019on apprend \u00e9galement qu\u2019il a acquis la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de Szonden dans des circonstances plus que douteuses. \u00a0Toute cette accumulation d\u2019\u00e9tranget\u00e9s conduit \u00e0 peu \u00e0 peu subodorer\u00a0 une affaire plus complexe qu\u2019il y para\u00eet de prime abord. D\u2019autant plus que Redo a t\u00f4t indiqu\u00e9 qu\u2019il ambitionnait de changer de personnalit\u00e9, sinon d\u2019identit\u00e9, pour appara\u00eetre d\u00e9sormais sous les esp\u00e8ces d\u2019un paisible cultivateur de betteraves sucri\u00e8res. En rupture avec un pass\u00e9 qu\u2019il laisse deviner plut\u00f4t tourment\u00e9, par petites touches discr\u00e8tement allusives. Si bien qu\u2019on en vient peu \u00e0 peu \u00e0 nourrir la forte pr\u00e9somption que ce narrateur n\u2019est pas celui qu\u2019il pr\u00e9tend \u00eatre. Pas davantage au demeurant qu\u2019Odra. Seul imp\u00e9ratif pour lui\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0<em>Ne pas commettre d\u2019impair, ne pas trop parler, ne pas d\u00e9couvrir ma v\u00e9ritable identit\u00e9, ne pas r\u00e9v\u00e9ler mes origines.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>On peut mesurer la sorte d\u2019incroyable mise en abyme qui anime cette \u00e9criture<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L\u2019on a d\u00e9j\u00e0 dit qu\u2019au moment d\u2019inhumer Odra dans le jardin de sa propri\u00e9t\u00e9, la seule qui \u00e9chappe \u00e0 l\u2019emprise du seigneur local, il exhume selon une rigoureuse progression arithm\u00e9tique les cadavres congel\u00e9s et parfaitement conserv\u00e9s, en position verticale, de militaires de diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9poques. Le fantastique se confirme ici comme un \u00e9l\u00e9ment constitutif du r\u00e9cit de Redo. Face au risque certain que les cadavres continuent de se multiplier selon la m\u00eame intangible logique arithm\u00e9tique et temporelle, les tout derniers portent une croix gamm\u00e9e, il ne lui reste plus qu\u2019\u00e0 creuser sous sa chambre pour y d\u00e9poser l\u2019encombrant cercueil. L\u2019affaire remonte jusqu\u2019aux oreilles du roi de Prusse. L\u2019omnipr\u00e9sente administration de la Mitteleuropa n\u2019est \u00e9videmment pas oubli\u00e9e, depuis celle de la Vienne imp\u00e9riale de la \u00ab\u00a0<em>Cacanie<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb jusqu\u2019\u00e0 celle de l\u2019occupant de \u00ab\u00a0<strong><em>Sanssouci<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0\u00bb \u00a0Si l\u2019on ajoute que des notes en bas de page viennent pr\u00e9ciser ce qui est impr\u00e9cis et corriger ce qui est incorrect dans le r\u00e9cit de Redo, on peut mesurer la sorte d\u2019incroyable mise en abyme qui anime cette \u00e9criture. Jusqu\u2019au nombre de mots, dont le traducteur Fran\u00e7ois-Michel Durazzo nous r\u00e9v\u00e8le \u00e0 la fin qu\u2019il suit de chapitre en chapitre la m\u00eame progression que le nombre des cadavres dans le jardin. C\u2019est dire combien ici tout est concert\u00e9 dans le moindre d\u00e9tail. On laissera au lecteur la d\u00e9couverte de le la surprise ultime, en visible \u00e9cho avec une des probl\u00e9matiques soci\u00e9tales de notre temps.
